In Between Revelation 2008
This installation was attempting to illuminate the space between a personal and a political story during the Korean modernization. These two stories are about the forgotten memories buried in the complete looking institution by arranging the grotesque figures of young girls performing an instructional act with origami-woven baskets that my father made who had been conscripted to fight in the Vietnam war at the time. He made a number of origami woven baskets while staying at a hospital, and always brought those to the house. However, the origami woven baskets are not really practical for decorating the house. However our family couldn’t throw them away almost as if they were human beings themselves.
